Job Description

We are looking for a Construction Project Site Manager to join our team. The suitable candidate will be responsible for controlling the time, cost and quality of construction projects, from project inception to completion.

The Project Site Manager will plan and coordinate all aspects of the construction process, including hiring employees and contractors and working with engineers, architects and vendors. A single manager might oversee an entire construction project, or multiple managers might oversee specific aspects of a larger project.

The ideal candidate must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.  The role requires an analytical mindset, great organizational skills and is able to perform under pressure with demanding deadlines.

 

Qualifications

Education

University Degree in construction management, construction science, engineering, architecture, or related field from an accredited university

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction-related management and/or supervisory position

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Set up job site office, equipment, and document control system requirements
  • Responsible for allocation of the project supervisory and labour staff, their development, progress and/or termination during the project
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of all tools and equipment on the job site in conjunction with the Site Manager
  • Maintain control and responsibility for all on-site construction materials and supplies and hold accountable the Site Manager and Project Foreman for the security and effective management of same.
  • Ensure that “as-built” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period and issue final close-outs to consultant/Client accordingly
  • Ensure all required municipal inspections are performed
  • Provide internal reporting and projections for inventory
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Promote safety and professionalism

 

Financial Management

  • Compile all necessary information for the preparation of Valuations and Change Orders and provide this to the Project Director and Quantity Surveyor
  • Monthly progress and post-construction cost review and reporting
  • Review monthly cost forecasting summaries prepared by Quality Surveyor
  • Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses
  • Experienced at managing and following strict budgets

 

Client Management

  • Building strong working relationships with clients
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions and strategies

 

Technical Understanding

  • Review the project plans and specifications before construction and comment on the design,
  • Establish, monitor and maintain the project schedule on a weekly basis highlighting progress and any adjustments
  • Expedite all shop drawings and approvals
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Knowledge of local building code regulations
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and experience with Project Management software such as Procore or similar
  • In-depth understanding of the construction industry
  • Establish a Site Safety Plan and continuously monitor the same
  • Ensure that the company’s Quality Control Plan is implemented
